Über-lovelies Shelly Figueroa and Karen LePage, the rockstar team behind Patterns by Figgy's, have written a book! Sewing For Boys published by Wiley Crafts! 24 projects including shirts, pants, pajamas, accesories, even toys! With something for every season, this book is just a breath of fresh air for someone interested in sewing for boys.
I met these ladies at Quilt Market in the Spring and it was so good to finally meet them since I've been a fan of their patterns for eons. They were both so sweet and funny! ^_^
I've been eagerly anticipitating the release of their book for months as I have two boys of my own. I have found myself turning to my Japanese craft books in search of cute and easy patterns for boys lately. So I'm so happy that they have filled the void with this much needed collection of goodies for the little men in our lives.
My favorite pattern by far is the Easy Linen Shirt. (Hmmm...I'm not sure why I like this shirt so much. I seriously doubt it has anything whatsoever to do with the linen. :P)
The Henry Shirt is another favorite with it's oh so cute Rockabilly flare.
The Mimi's boy suspender shorts are so adorable I could just pop! I especially love the name since my littles call my Mother 'Mimi'. ^_^
I also especially love the romper and the patchwork blanket. Shelly and Karen featured so many soft fabrics such as knits, flannels and fleece, ensuring that your little one will always be comfy cozy. I also appreciate that they took the time to add little extras in the patterns. For instance the pajamas were designed with room for growth in mind. So once your bud has grown a bit... little snip here, a snip there and he can wear those jammies you made even longer! Love!
The instructions were very easy to understand and there is a wealth of information on seam finishes. Hong Kong Finish? I can't remember the last time I saw that in a craft book. I love that!
The book is just flat out awesome and I love it! Well done ladies! Once things slow down for me I can't wait to dig in and make some of these projects for my boys. This book certainly WON't be collecting dust on my bookshelf. ^_~
Nope your're not seeing double. That's right, I'm giving away TWO copies of Sewing for Boys! Thanks to a shipping error I have an extra copy, so why not share it with all of you my super duper awesome readers, right? Leave a comment if you'd like to enter the drawing. I'll choose a winner on Monday!
Be sure to follow along the rest of the tour as well!
