It's a Block Party blog party!! Woohoooo! ^_^
I'm so excited to be hosting today's stop on the blog tour for this awesome book! It's Block Party published by Stash Books written by Wonder Women Alissa Haight Carlton and Kristen Lejnieks!!
Our precious little virtual quilting bee has been amazingly turned into this wonderful book that takes you through the year long journey of 12 women quilting it up together. A chapter for each month of the year featuring each of the quilts that we put together.
Some of my favorite lovely examples:
December - Confetti Block by Megan Risse
I love this quilt mainly because of it's modern simplicity, but it still leaves such a huge impression. There's nothing I love better than a quilt with a creamy white solid background with little bursts of color and Megan's quilt certainly delivers. Truly one of my favorites in the book.
June - Wonky Roman Stripe Block - Kristen Lejnieks
Oh, how do I love thee, Wonky Roman quilt? Let me count the ways! Kristen's quilt really just speaks to me! My favorite colors together in such a wonderfully fresh and crisp clean design. *sigh* It took everything for me not to run off with it when I saw it at Quilt Market. That certainly would have been a sight though. :P I heart you quilty! *blows kisses* Oh, I like you too, Kristen. I'm just reeeally in loooove with your quilt! ^_~
And last but not least.....my quilt!! Yaay!
October - Hexagon Block - Your's truly
I simply go gaga for hexagons! I'd literally have them everywhere if I could. Yes. EVERY. WHERE. After putting this quilt together I was so emotionally torn about having to send it away. Super excited to be in a book with this brilliant group of women. Super sad to send my precious away and not see it again for months. *faints* But I'm totally over it now that I see it's in such great company. ^_^
Block Party not only tells you how to make the quilts from our bee, but also how to start your own bee! What could be better than that? Well, I'll tell you...a foreword by Denyse Schmidt, that's what! *eyes sparkle* I'm quilty star struck I tell you. *_*
