DQSII - Progress Report #2
Finished! ^_^ Yay!
The Front
It measures 18" x 24" , hand appliqued, and the rest done by machine. I'm so excited to be finished with this. (So excited to finish in fact, that I forgot to make my label...sorry) This is a huge personal accomplishment for me, though. This is only my second quilt, I've never done this type of applique, and I've never done continuous binding. I committed myself to this design and for a little while I was thinking that I had bitten off more than I could chew! I was actually going to stop this quilt and do an easier design.
Oh yes, and my machine was having fun terrorizing me the entire time. I felt like I was using a sewing machine for the first time with this project. I'm telling you I was all thumbs. There are some flaws, but I suppose that just adds to it character. *shrugs* I just kept worrying about what my swap partner is going to think of it. I really hope she likes it. But I did it! Yay!!! So, I will be going to the post office today to ship this somewhere on this wonderful planet. I wonder who's going to receive it? ^_^

It's turned out beautifully - love the design.

Really NEATO design! I'd love it if *I* was your swap partner. Have you ever tried hand appliquing and/or hand quilting? Imho, it's far easier than on a machine as you have much more control and thus, more accurate results. Just a thought.

The quilting is just beautiful. I'm really impressed by the curves and the quilting pattern. And the patterned binding--I decided against doing the same on a quilt today, but after seeing yours, I wish I hadn't already cut up all the solid blue strips for my binding! Next time...

Congratulations on your finished object! I saw it at flickr and came over to read the post. I love the pattern, and the fabrics and they way you quilted it and the little arc in the bottom corner on the back. I can't imagine that your swap partner will be anything other than delighted.

I was finally able to retrieve my swap quilt from the Post Office today. Thank you so much. It is absolutely fabulous! I can't believe you are a newbie quilter. It is beautifully designed and professionally executed. It will soon be hanging on my livingroom wall -- I've got the perfect spot for it.
